How to Import Products and Customers from Excel on Day One
How to prepare an Excel list of products and credit customers for a first day on Sajilo IMS: one row per item, real quantities, and balances you can defend.

The fastest way to start is a clean file, not ten years of tabs. Sajilo IMS import and export exist so you are not typing every active SKU by hand. A messy workbook imports a messy shop.
Products and opening quantities are the priority. Customers matter where you sell on credit. Everyone else can stay as cash until they ask for udharo.
Product columns worth importing
One row per sellable item. Name, unit, barcode if you have one, category, cost, selling price, and quantity on hand for each location. Delete duplicates and blank rows. Decide the Nepali name now, because the counter will search for it.
Do not import old sales invoices as if they were products. Do not import a “closing stock” formula you do not believe. Count, or accept today’s quantity as the opening figure.
Customers: names and opening balances
One row per credit customer: the name you will say at the counter, a phone number if you have it, and an opening balance you are willing to show them. Drop the nicknames that duplicate the same person.
If a balance is disputed, agree it before it enters the system. A wrong opening balance becomes an argument with a printout. Cash-only customers do not need a row on day one.
Import, then check a sample before you bill
After import, open fast movers, expensive items, and anything with a barcode. Fix units that arrived as text. Confirm the warehouse that received the opening quantity. A second location must not be dumped into the first.
Bill from the system the same day and close Excel. The support team can help when columns do not line up. Ask before the morning you intend to switch.
Frequently asked questions
- Should we import dead stock?
- No. Import what you still sell or still hold. A long list of discontinued names slows search at the counter.
- Can we import history later?
- Opening balances and today’s movements matter more than old bills. Add history only if you have a clear reason and a clean file. Most shops should not.
