How to Read Your Daily P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow from One Dashboard
How Nepali shop owners can read sales, stock value, and cash movement without waiting for a formal P&L. What a dashboard can tell you, and what still belongs in the accounts.

Profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flow are three different questions. Profit asks what you earned. The balance sheet asks what you own and owe. Cash flow asks where the money went. A strong sales day can still leave the drawer empty if customers bought on credit.
Sajilo IMS reports and dashboard figures are the operational view: sales, stock, and valuation. A statutory statement still needs expenses, loans, and an accountant. Use the operational view every day so the statutory one is not a surprise.
Three numbers to look at before you leave
Sales for the day, split by cash, wallet, and credit. Stock value, so a sales spike is not just items leaving at a loss. Low-stock lines, so tomorrow’s purchase is based on what remains.
If sales rose and stock value did not fall, something was not recorded. If stock value fell and sales did not rise, you are looking at a transfer, a damage entry, or a missing bill.
Profit is not the cash in the drawer
Credit sales can make the day look profitable while the drawer is short. A supplier payment can empty the bank on a day you sold well. Read cash and credit as separate lines.
Margin needs cost as well as selling price. If purchase cost is missing or old, the “profit” on the screen is a selling total, not a margin. Stock valuation in Sajilo IMS is only as current as the costs you received.
How this becomes a monthly statement
Give your accountant the period’s sales, purchases, stock valuation, and a note of expenses that never went through the POS, such as rent and wages. That pack is the bridge from the dashboard to a P&L.
Do not force the dashboard to look like a textbook balance sheet by typing assets into the product list. Equipment is not merchandise.
Frequently asked questions
- Can I file taxes from the dashboard alone?
- No. The dashboard tells you how the shop moved. Tax filing needs your registration, allowable expenses, and the workings your accountant signs off.
- How often should an owner open reports?
- A short look daily, and a proper export at month end. Daily looking is how you notice a missing tender before it becomes a month of gaps.
